Our theme for this week is “hope.” “Hope” is a small word, but can be so very powerful. Much literature on “hope” focuses on the meaning of hope to Christians, but hope is for everyone, and everyone needs hope. It’s not a Christian concept or value, it’s a human concept and value. The list of the significance of hope is infinite, but below is a starting point:

  1. Hope is what gives meaning and purpose to life.

  2. Hope is your greatest encourager.

  3. Hope is what prevents the depressed person from taking her/his own life.

  4. Hope is the facilitator of goals.

  5. Hope is contagious.

  6. Hope is change.

  7. Hope is the light in the darkness and at the end of the tunnel.

  8. Hope is the essence of love and the conqueror of hate.

  9. Hope is the sculptor of futures.

  10. Hope is relief from despair.

  11. Hope is the maker of miracles.

  12. Hope is the ability to sustain no matter the outcome of a dire situation.

  13. Hope is based in truth rather than in false dreams.

  14. Hope is more than a wish or a dream, but hope can help you achieve these.

  15. Hope is the difference in a positive attitude from a negative attitude.

  16. Hope is the ability to get back up each time you get knocked down.

  17. Hope is life.

  18. Hope is opportunity.

  19. Hope is living in the moment.

  20. Hope is knowledge.
